Tim Cox Art Prints and Posters

Tim Cox (1957-present) has become known for his truly extraordinary Western paintings. In 2003, Tim was awarded one of the most prestigious awards in the world of Western art when the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK chose his painting "On To Better Pastures" as the recipient of their Prix de West Purchase Award. The painting was purchased by the hall to be part of its permanent collection and will hang in a special area along with other masterpieces by previous Prix de West winners. Tim currently lives in New Mexico where, aside from his painting, he raises cattle and trains horses. He is considered to be one the truly great Western artists or our time. Tim Cox Trivia

  • Alden Timothy Cox was born in 1957 in Safford, Arizona and raised in nearby Duncan, Arizona.
  • When he was 5 years old Tim stated he "was going to be a cowboy artist" when he grew up.
  • He began doing cowboy day-work as a young boy.
  • In 1975, a couple of weeks after graduating high school, Tim married Suzie Newby.
  • After getting married, Tim and Suzie worked for various isolated ranches. He would cowboy all day, then come home and paint long into the night.
  • In addition to painting, Tim also raises cattle and trains horses. He is an avid fan, exhibitor, and breeder of cutting horses.
  • Tim Cox's paintings have appeared on over 110 magazine covers.
  • Tim Cox has said of himself:
    "For me to paint something, I'd rather experience it myself."
