Stirrup Hobbles For Sale On ! Stirrup hobbles (sometimes called "stirrup hobble straps") are the small straps that buckle around the bottom of the stirrup fender just above the stirrup. These small straps are often more important than some people realize. Stirrup hobbles keep Western stirrups upright and at the bottom of the stirrup fenders. Without them, stirrups could move up and down the stirrup leathers and / or easily twist and turn. A bouncing, twisted, or turned stirrup can trap a rider's foot, easily being the cause of, or at least contributing significantly to, a bad accident. Experienced horse people from all Western riding disciplines know the value of always riding with stirrup hobbles.

Good Things To When Buying Stirrup Hobbles

• Are the stirrup hobbles new or used?
• What are the stirrup hobbles made of? Leather is common, but you can also sometimes find stirrup hobbles made from nylon or other materials.
• How long are the stirrup hobbles?
• How wide are they?
• What color are they? Will they match or complement your saddle?
• Are the stirrup hobbles plain or are they tooled? If they are tooled, will they go well with your saddle?
• What are the buckles like on the stirrup hobbles? This may not always matter, but at times the type of buckle might make a difference. For example, if necessary, can the buckle be fastened and unfastened by small hands or arthritic fingers?
