Handy Ranch Horse Class

The Handy Ranch Horse class is a horse show class that judges a horse on such things as its performance at different gaits, how it handles different obstacles, and how it responds to the rider. Handy Ranch Horse classes are popular at Foundation Quarter Horse shows.

In a Handy Ranch Horse class there are several obstacles for a horse and rider to negotiate. Common obstacles include opening, passing through, and closing a gate; roping a stationary steer; loading into a stock trailer; a water hazard, hobbling or ground tying, putting on and removing a slicker, backing or riding through or around brush or other obstacles, and others.
